Planning our Documentary

In this lesson we sat together as a group to construct ideas for our mise-en-scene for our interviews. We took each interview in tern and came up with how they would be positioned too.
We came up with an idea for the title for our documentary. We decided to leave the sound section blank until we came to a firm decision as a group on the right track for our opening sequence.

We came up with potential questions to ask our interviewees for each of our interviews. We have asked as many questions as we can to make sure we obtain the  most information possible from each interview.

Questionnaire Analysis

In our group we each took 4 questions each and collected the data from the questionnaires we handed in. We had to tally up the data from the questionnaires and transfer this data into graphs to enable us to analyse the answers to the questions we asked. By doing this its helps us in the production of our documentary as for questions that people chose the answer that they don't know, we will able to put this in our documentary to educate and inform our audience.

Its good to talk

This is our documentary for our preliminary task on 'Its good to Talk'. The topic of the documentary is mobile phones and we have tried to show that throughout the documentary.

''Its Good to Talk'' Inital plan

This is a plan forour 'Its Good To Talk' documentary, we have had to plan everything from the mise-en-scene to cut aways..
To make the mise-en-scene relevant to mobile phones, we will produce a prop; board images of mobile phones. These images will be placed at the back of interviewees when we are filming. We will do this as the audience will not be distracted and will remain focused on the topic of mobile phones are the images will keep reinforcing it.
As mobile phones are very popular with the younger generations, we plan to interview a lot of young people aged 16-20. In the interview we plan to ask questions relevant to the topic of mobile phones such as:
When did you get your first mobile phone?
What do you use your phone for?
Could you go a day without your phone?
We plan to ask 10 questions to each interviewee and then we plan to edit the questions out and put each interviewees answers to each question after one another.
In between interviews and at the beginning of our documentary, we plan to have footage of people using mobile phones, this uses contemporary footage of the modern day and also archive footage of when mobile phones were first invented- this will show how mobile phones have escalated in society. This footage will be used as our cutaways.
We also have chosen the track 'Telephone' by Lady GaGa and Beyonce. We have chosen this song as it relates back to the theme of our documentary as the lyrics is referring to a mobile phone with constant texts and calls.

Preliminary Task

Our task is too product a short documentary on mobile phones. We will do this by conducting interviews which then we will edited into a short film so that only the answers are used- the audience will not hear any of the questions being asked. We will have to create a title for our short film and also lay a music bed under the edited interview.
